Obviously, Schweitzer is known for its amazing skiing and mountain biking but it has so much more to offer year round. Checkout the summer and winter activity pages on Schweitzer’s website to discover all the things that you and the family can do.
Did you know that Schweitzer is on the IKON pass? Sure, of course you did.
Winter at Schweitzer
During the winter, Schweitzer offers 2900 acres of some of the best skiing and snowboarding the region has to offer. Our home is conveniently located near the Musical Chairs lift and the Fall Line Parking lot. There are a few ways to get to the slopes but the quickest way is to take the short drive to the Fall Line Parking lot. FYI, this parking lot can get full during peak season weekends and holidays. Alternatively, there is a free shuttle service that you can call that will pick you up and drive you to your destination on the mountain but please consider tipping the driver! If you are feeling adventurous, you can even walk (0.4 mi) to the trail (not a bad walk in snowboard boots). Also, everyone gets 1 free ride up the Musical Chairs lift, so don’t worry if you need to buy a lift ticket.
The musical chairs lift is being replaced with a new high speed quad and the lift line parking is being expanded too! You can learn about more upcoming changes that Schweitzer is planning on their website.
Aside from skiing and snowboarding, here are some other great options:
- Snowshoeing
- Hiking
- Cross-country (Nordic) skiing
- Guided back-country skiing and snowboarding
- Après–ski (in the Village)
- Tubing
- Spa & Massage
Off-season at Schweitzer
Even when there isn’t snow on the ground, there is still plenty to do in the Village; it’s busier in the peak summer than you would think. The Village has a family friendly atmosphere while most stores and restaurants remain open, though, typically operate on a reduced schedule. Consider some of these great options:
- Cycling and downhill mountain biking
- Hiking
- Huckleberry picking. You can find bushes alongside of Schweitzer Mountain Rd. Park in one of the many pull-offs.
- Tennis Courts (in the Village)
- Playground (in the Village)
- Zip lining
- Horseback riding
- Frisbee golf
